Marblehead Etchells Fleet 4 is an active fleet racing almost every Saturday during the spring, summer and fall. There is great open water racing off of Marblehead known as the sailing capital of the country. One of the big events of the year is Marblehead Race Week NOOD which attracts Etchells Sailors from Canada and the entire East Coast. Fleet 4 members are friendly, helpful and always welcome new members and guests. They are eager to help you find a good used Etchells or a crew position on an Etchells.
If you are interested in this truly remarkable boat and class one of the best ways to learn about the boat and get involved is to crew. Simply add you name to the crew list.
Another way to get involved is to add you name to our email list and join as an associate member which is very inexpensive. This will get you the National Magazine, on our email list and has and many other benefits.
During the year we often invite other class sailors, PHRF sailors, and any interested parties for a get aquatinted day of racing on an Etchells. You may be sailing with world class sailors such as Dave Curtis, Jud Smith and Robbie Doyle. It’s a fun day usually followed by a social. Be sure to let us know if you would be interested.
If you are interested in purchasing an Etchells visit our BUY/SELL page to see a list of boats for sale. You should also contact our members who will help guide you through the process and let you know which boats are good. A very knowledgeable person is Jud Smith who can be reached a Doyle sales one design.
In Marblehead, Etchells are raced out of the Corinthian Yacht Club, Eastern Yacht Club and Boston Yacht Club. You don’t have to be a member of a yacht club to race. In addition to the yacht clubs there are several other private yacht yards where you can dry sail your boat. These yards are relatively inexpensive.
